Mr. Chairman, I apologize for not doing my job... again

I read some unattributed comments by U.S. Senate staffers a while back that Sen. Barack Obama has had the habit during his brief tenure in office of breezing in late for committee meetings if he shows up at all and then asking what was generously called "insipid" questions about items of business that had already been completed in his absence. Not particularly well-informed seemed to be the best face they could put on how he carries out his legislative duties. OK, he was busy running for president practically since he got sworn in to Congress, so as my daddy used to say, a poor excuse is better than none at all. Anyway, here's a video compilation of the times Obama has apologized on record for showing up late at the Foreign Relations Committee hearings he's supposed to be attending. Obviously the video doesn't include his subcommittee of Foreign Relations that has oversight of Afghanistan, for which the chairman has never convened a single meeting to date. And who might the lax chairman of that subcommittee be? Let me introduce Chairman Obama, who has called the war in Afghanistan "the real war on terror," vs. the war in Iraq.
