Pigs fly! WaPo says Obama lied!

Believe it or else, The Washington Post says Obama lied! Of course, they didn't use the word "lied" as in "Bush lied, people died!" the constant refrain of the leftwing nutroots. Just what Bush lied about and who died is unexplained. No explanation is needed because "everybody knows" what Bush lied about and who died. Iraq! Afghanistan! 9/11! Global Warming! Global Cooling! Stock Market Crash! Housing Crash! Banking Crash! When you add it all up, it's amazing what "W" has accomplished in just eight short years. Who will they blame when W's gone in January? If Obama is the new president, all ills will surely be somebody else's fault. But if it's a McCain-Palin administration, guess who will get all blame?

Anti-anti-Bush rant over. Back to Obama's lie, which according to the WaPo is not actually a lie, it's just an "exaggeration." Republicans lie. Democrats exaggerate. And only on very rare occasions. And on those rare occasions when they're caught exaggerating, nobody ever dies.

The WaPo headline says:
Obama Exaggerates His Influence on Stimulus Plan

"In January, I outlined a plan to help revive our faltering economy, which formed the basis for a bipartisan stimulus package that passed the Congress."

Sen. Barack Obama, Golden, Colo., Sept. 16

Sen. John McCain's campaign is ridiculing Obama's assertion that his economic stimulus plan was the basis for the compromise package that was adopted by Congress and the Bush administration this year. McCain partisans point out that the Illinois senator did not even vote on the final package, which passed the Senate on Feb. 7.

After a lot of hemming and hawing, the WaPo finally concludes that Obama flunks what they call The Pinnochio Test.

...the junior senator from Illinois is exaggerating his influence, and his role in the process of legislative give-and-take, to say that his ideas "formed the basis" of the final package.

And the WaPo also investigated the charge by "McCain partisans" that Obama didn't even vote on the final stimulus package which he "outlined."

Glory be, the WaPo's investigation turned up the "McCain partisans" were right, Obama didn't even cast a "present" vote, he was absent that day.

McCain is correct in saying that Obama did not show up for the final Senate vote on the economic stimulus package on Feb. 7. Obama and Clinton were out on the campaign trail that day.

But the WaPo just couldn't stop there with their "Hillary did it, too!" statement. They just couldn't resist getting in a dig against McCain.

However, McCain himself missed an important Senate vote on the bill the previous day, drawing criticism from the Democrats for missing an opportunity "to stand up for America's working families."

And believe it or else, there was a second "Pigs Fly!" story in the WaPo today. WaPo columnist Howard Kurtz wrote that a study found that Obama's campaign ads have been more negative than McCain's ads recently. How did this stuff slip past the pro-Obama "fact" checkers?
